This group is for folks "new in town" and the "not-at-all-new-in-town" looking to get together to try new things, see new events, happy hours, hiking, all outdoor activities, plays, etc in and around Ithaca. We are basically a social networking group that focuses on researching cool things to do together and forming meetups to do those things that interest us. Our group is also a great way of meeting new people and exploring what Ithaca and the surrounding area has to offer. Each member is encouraged to check out all of our meetups. If you like any of them and can fit them in your schedule, go ahead and RSVP for the ones that interest you. If none of the posts interest you please feel free to present an idea of your own and we will help you promote it and form it into a meetup.
Meetups are informal social gatherings where atheists meetup to chat, socialize, and converse on a variety of topics and get to know one another.
We have a variety of types of events we offer in an effort to build a community and really get to know each other on a personal level. Past events have included attending science, evolution, or atheism related lectures, dining out, BBQ/Picnics, Potlucks, Movie Nights in members' homes, bowling nights, diners, happy hours, after dinner drinks, desserts, and more.
We are not an organization, nor are we affiliated with any organizations. Ithaca Atheists Meetup group site is a place to find out what events are going on of interest to atheists in our area and to make friends with local atheists. Member input is always welcome and encouraged. Please make liberal use of the Ideas area for suggestions with specific dates and times when possible of an event that you would like to host.

We believe in

A group for those in the Binghamton area that do not believe in God (or any other unproven forms of magic/spirituality) and wish to socialize with like-minded infidels. In the future, we are looking to expand into education and activism into the greater community about atheism and the separation of church and state.

A note to theists: Because for some of our members the monthly meetups are the only place where they can be open about their un-belief, we ask that you not attend them. If you have chosen to eliminate gluten from your diet, you've come to the right place!
For one reason or another, many of the members of The Fingerlakes Celiac Group have decided to give up gluten, (the protein found in wheat, barley, rye and other gluten containing grains) or know someone who has. For some, it's an allergy or intolerance. For others, it's simply a healthier way of life. Whatever your reason for going gluten-free, TFCG is here to offer support, education, inspiration and awareness.
We also welcome to the group those of you with multiple food allergies. We realize that many of the health conditions surrounding gluten sensitivity/celiac often include other food allergies as well as symptoms related to autisim spectrum disorders. We encourage family members and friends to join with loved ones who are on restricted diets to offer support and encouragment and to get educated on the life changing effects a gluten-free diet can offer.
Our goal is to have at least one meetup a month. Currently, we are holding meetups at The Shops at Ithaca Mall in Ithaca, NY. We are looking for a perminant meetup location.

We are self-educating on how to be 'politically-effective' for the good and survival of the United States, with the traditional, constitutional and state's-rights preservation and separation-of-powers that made the USA GREAT! on the world-scene.
Pre-election, we will be examining views and skills of participants in local races on-up to national, and giving candidates a venue for exposure to people in this area, for Candidate Presentations and Q&A Sessions.
Minimum Criteria are being established for any candidate to receive our 'gold seal stamp of approval'.
Post-election, we will be 'keeping an eye' on our elected servant-officials to make sure they remain worthy of our support (or otherwise!), and continue to learn more about how the various local political entities function as 'lean & efficient tax-$ consumers', or don't, as the case may be.

The Self Inquiry Discussion Group provides an opportunity to meet with others involved in the search for Truth and Self-definition via Self-inquiry. Our meetings consist of an informal and open discussion of paths, teachers, techniques, philosophical and spiritual systems, and possible ways and means for expediting the search. The discussions are not academic or theoretical, but rather focus on our own personal experiences as seekers. There is usually also a period of silent meditation at some point during the evening.
If you find yourself drawn to teachers like Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, Ramana Maharshi, Douglas Harding, Tony Parsons, Franklin Merrell-Wolf, Eckhart Tolle, Adyashanti, and the ancient masters of Zen, Advaita Vedanta, and Christian Mysticism, you may find our meetings very worthwhile.

We are a Feminist Book Club open to all genders, of all ages. Beginning in January, we will be meeting every month to discuss a book which we have chosen the month before. We will be reading all sorts of feminist texts, including but not limited to, feminist theory, feminist fiction, feminist poetry, feminist psychology and feminist philosophy.
We just had our first meeting and it was great! We are looking forward to reading some amazing books and getting together to discuss them and to learn from one another.

Republicans in the City of Ithaca, NY -- a small but sturdy band! Our goal is to restore competence, civility, and true community spirit (not to be confused with pork and self-interest) to Ithaca city government and its various appendages.
CNYO is an orienteering club. Orienteering is running (or walking) in the woods with map and compass. We teach map reading skills and offer fun events involving navigation and running (or walking).
This is a participants-only group of cooks who are passionate (or who think they might become passionate) about making dishes with the so-called "variety meats" (tripes, sweetbreads, fries, feet, ears, etc.), and charcuterie, including fresh and fermented sausages, hams, terrines, patés, and confits. I'm hoping that our meetings may be of two sorts. First, meetings built around the group's preparation and sharing of meals, limited to (say) 10 at the table. Second, meetings where we share the cost and the prep of the production of quantities of charcuterie, which we then divide up and take home for curing and/or sharing with our families and friends.
All costs of our activities will be shared among the members who participate in a particular meeting. We will be strictly "pay as we go," with no excess funds collected, nor any reserves kept. If we're going to try a recipe with expensive ingredients (which might require the purchase of a case of foie gras from Regional Access in Ithaca, or from D'Artagnan in NYC, for instance), members who wish to participate will send their share of the purchase money to the host member in advance, so that the host doesn't get stuck with a bill greater than his/her appropriate share. (It's probably worth reminding ourselves that most offal cuts are inexpensive, rather than expensive!)
Note that cooking is an activity which makes use of dangerous things by its very nature: sharp things like knives; hot things like stoves; and machines like grinders, blenders, mixers, and food processors which can cause terrible injuries if used foolishly, or without appropriate training, care, or attention. Each participant will sign a release before each meeting, releasing the group and the host member from all liability associated with the activities of that meeting.

The Ithaca Young Onset Parkinson's Support Group focuses on developing education and discussing topics that address the unique needs of young people with Parkinson's disease, their family members and friends as well as their healthcare team.
